Structural Support
Trees with co-dominant stems, included bark and other defects are all candidates for a non-invasive, structural support sytem.
Structural support systems, also known as cabling or bracing, can help prolong the shape and structure of a comprimised tree. Support cabling is best installed in the upper third of the tree above the branch union. Weak branch unions are characterized by two limbs growing too closely together, or by trees with two (or more) equally large lead stems. Defects like these expose the tree to potential failure in wind events.
Up Tree Care uses a dynamic cabling system known as a Cobra® Cable. Support systems like these, when correctly installed, help minimize limb sway in high winds, thus limiting the levering force on the branch union. If you have a prized tree on your property with any of the above defects, consider getting a structural support system installed. It may just save your tree!
What We Do
After determining the need for a structural support system, we will access the tree to install the cable in the most effective location.
- Cabling helps protect your tree, landscape and property
- Cobra® Cable attachments expand and will not girdle the tree
- Cables will last 10 years before replacement is recommended
